Abstract

Jakarta – Import performance continued to show a positive trend, showing clear signs of a solid economic recovery. The expansion of the manufacturing sector and a rising demand-side have triggered the rise of imports in April 2021. Aligned with the rise of the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), the rise in imports stimulated the manufacturing sector. It elucidates the sign of higher optimism among manufacturing sector players for a better economic outlook. In addition, vaccine rollout programs in Indonesia and supplier countries have boosted import optimism.
