Year on Year Exports in July Still Increasing

Abstract

The significant wave of a slowdown in the largest economic countries, such as the United States and China, weighed on external demand in developing countries, including Indonesia. This demand could be seen in national exports, which contracted minus 2.2 percent in July 2022.

In line with national exports, Jakarta Capital City’s exports also decreased. Exports in July 2022 were recorded at US$ 917.1 million, declining 7.9 percent compared to the previous month. This condition was triggered by the decline in exports of most main commodities. However, in the midst of this decline, the three main commodities showed positive growth, namely fish, crustaceans, and mollusks; clothing and accessories (knitted); and animal/vegetable fats and oils.

In contrast to the month-to-month export growth, year-on-year exports of Jakarta showed positive growth. Exports in July rose 7.4 percent compared with the same month a year earlier..
